Masking Tape. It's how I roll.
I'm Bart Schultz. I'm a self-taught contemporary
artist living in Richmond, Virginia. Over the years I've experimented with a number of art forms, most often related to scultpure
in one form or another. Several years ago I started playing around with masking tape. Somehow it all turned into a full-time
gig.
While I have a great appreciation
for American folk art, self-taught southern artists and outsiders, as well as many contemporary artists, I've worked hard
to create and develop my own style of work, never mimicking the work of others.
Defining the style of my work is something that I'll leave to others. Some would
classify it as folk art - others have called it contemporary with a pop influence. To me it makes no difference. I make what
I make, experimenting everyday with new ideas and techniques, and if I find one person who appreciates the end result, I'm
good to go.
I live from the sale of my
art work and travel several times each year to different galleries and retail venues. My upcoming exhibitions are listed on
the corresponding link above. I also sell work through this website and through a local gallery in Richmond, VA.
My blog page is a good place to keep tabs on me and what's
